The RADF Committee supports creative development in the Mackay region by assessing funding applications, mentoring grant recipients and promoting arts initiatives. Members ensure funding decisions reflect community needs and help strengthen the region’s cultural identity.
What is RADF?
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), established in 1991, is a highly successful state and local government partnership that supports the creative community living in regional Queensland. The Program focuses on the development of quality cultural, heritage and creative practice for and with, regional communities.
Role outline:
RADF Committee Members serve as community-focused representatives who support the development of arts and culture across the Mackay Regional Council area. This voluntary role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to regional creative growth, mentor local artists and promote equitable arts investment.
Role Responsibilities:

Attend and actively participate in RADF meetings held three times annually

Assess grant applications, ensuring alignment with RADF eligibility and Council priorities

Allocate funding based on assessment criteria, strategic relevance and community impact

Mentor 1–2 successful applicants, providing guidance throughout their funded projects

Take part in onboarding and ad hoc Committee training

Champion the RADF Program within personal and professional networks to foster awareness
